Tim Spell is one of the co-founders of OpenWater and the focus of this week’s blog post. I asked him just a couple of questions and was pretty amused by the responses.

Miriam: What do you do here?

Tim: Good question. I’ve done everything in the company at one point or the other…programming, customer support, marketing, sales and HR. Lately I’m focused on building the marketing side of the business which is a lot of fun but I miss having the opportunity to sit down with prospective clients.

M: Where did you go to school?

T: I went to St. Joseph’s Preparatory School in Philadelphia for high school. George Washington University for college. I double majored in Computer Science and Business Administration (Finance).

M: What are some of your hobbies?

T: I’m an active member at Potomac Boat Club in Washington D.C., waking up most morning at 5:00AM to train and row with my teammates. Our next big race is the San Diego Crew Classic in April where we’ll be looking to defend our championship.

M: What are some favorite movies and books?

T: Movies: Forrest Gump, Rocky 4, Indiana Jones and the last Crusade. The Fugitive. Boiler Room.

Books: The Difference Between God and Larry Ellison (God doesn’t think he’s Larry Ellison), Rich Dad Poor Dad, Never Eat Alone, The Definitive Book of Body Language.

M: Anything else you’d like us to know about you?

T: I came in 2nd in the Philadelphia City Chess Tournament back in 1997. I’ve never had a cavity. I’m allergic to cats but think that they are cute.
