Software Update: Re-organization of Program Level Settings

Published October 9, 2015 in Leadership

Prior to this update, you would go to a multi-tabbed view that looks like the following:

We know customers are used to this screen and overall did manage to figure out where to go to update their settings. However, as we continued to add features, the number of tabs became to be too many. We realized we’d outgrown this paradigm of displaying information.

Our new layout gives you an overview of all of the settings.

Instead of choosing the tab, you can now click the configure link to make edits.

Furthermore, we’ve added a shortcut in the round settings to give you direct access to all of the program specific items.

Just like when Microsoft changed Office to have ribbons instead of toolbars, a lot of existing users were confused as to why they’d fix something that wasn’t broken. The main reason was to help users discover what features were really there. By having everything on one screen, we hope many of the features you want in OpenWater, that are already there, are now more accessible to you.
