OpenWater Mid-Year Product Update: New APIs, Reporting Enhancements, and More

We’re halfway through 2025, and we’ve been hard at work delivering updates that improve the flexibility, reliability, and reporting power of the OpenWater platform. Here’s a quick rundown of our latest product improvements and what you can expect next.

New API Endpoint for Round-Based Data Queries

We’ve added new API endpoints that support returning data by Round ID. This change significantly simplifies the way both OpenWater staff and our customers access data from reports. Many users rely on API queries to pull reports configured in OpenWater, and this enhancement allows more focused and flexible access to data across multiple rounds.

New Finance-Oriented Variables for Application Reports

We’ve expanded our reporting capabilities with a set of new variables tailored for financial reporting:

• {CouponName} and {CouponCode}: These variables can now be exported using both Subset of Fields and Python advanced CSV/XLS export options.
• The following variables are now supported in both Subset of Fields and advanced exports:
  • {InvoiceCurrency}
  • {InvoiceTotalAdjustment}
  • {InvoiceAdjustmentDetails}
  • {InvoiceTotalRefund}
  • {InvoiceRefundDetails}

These enhancements make it easier for finance teams and admins to export and analyze billing-related data directly from the OpenWater reporting engine.

📈Platform and Translation Improvements

• We’ve made various French translation improvements across the platform to support our growing international customer base.
• Guidebook Sync reliability has been improved, ensuring smoother updates and better consistency across platforms.

Bug Fixes

We’ve squashed a few important bugs to ensure more accurate data exports and smoother admin experiences:

• PDF Export – Table Fields: Fixed an issue where blank sub-fields in table fields were replaced by GUID strings.
• CSV Export – Address Fields: Address fields with non-Latin characters (e.g., Arabic or Chinese) in the state dropdown now export properly, instead of showing encoded character strings.
• Bulk Download Tool Link: The link now correctly redirects users to the new Help Center, instead of the deprecated site.

Coming Soon: New UI Still on Track

Our redesigned OpenWater user interface (UI) remains on track for release later this year. We’re excited about the improvements to performance, accessibility, and usability that the new design will bring. Stay tuned — we’ll be sharing more updates as we get closer to launch!
