The Voice for Conference Planners

Published August 1, 2015 in Leadership

The goal of this blog is to talk about the problems faced by conference planners and organizers. A conference may only be a few hours long or span a few days, but the preparation can often take a full year. The job of the conference planner is one at OpenWater that we feel has really been under appreciated.

We hope to highlight some of the common frustrations faced by event planners, especially with the collection of abstracts and scheduling of speakers. Hundreds, sometimes thousands of speaker proposals can inundate the small conference planning team. We know sometimes this team is just made out of one person — and we know sometimes that one person has to wear multiple hats.

Conference planning can be super stressful, and our hope is to maintain a first-rate tool while also sharing war stories from the field as well as tips and tricks.
